Ring Sling re-do's

I was asked about doing these slings by a Mama who loved the wraps that they were made from but wasnt loving the Style of the shoulder that had been used.  She had been advised that undoing a wrap that had been sewn into a Ring Sling was too complicated and very risky due to the potential of snagging a thread.  I on the other hand was quite confident that it could be done .  So happy for me to give it a go the Mama sent her Ring Slings to me and I sat and carefully unpicked the exisitng stitching on the shoulders with  no problems, both wraps were unscathed and after a quickwash were as good as new.  Now dont get me wrong, I am not suggesting that unpicking any stiching on a wrap is without its dangers, but if you have some expereince of working with wraps and are patient and very careful there really isnt any reason that your wraps should come out damaged.

The first Sling is a dyed Didymos Ellipsen wrap.  Shoulder re-do SBP style to Gathered.

The 2nd Sling is a made from a Didymos Lisa (thanks for pointing out it isnt a Jan -pah sorry ;O)  wrap. Shoulder re-do SBP style to Gathered.

Little Rocket Boy & the Protective Mother

The Mama who ordered this Ocah conversion sent me some lovely Gradation Fabric by Caryl Bryer Fallert for Benartex.  This Mama wanted the fabrics to be used with a Hoppediz Capetown wrap and had an idea that she wanted a Pixie style hood with some kind of applique on the hood to match the fabric of the carrier depending on which way around the carrier was being worn.  So after giving me a free hand in choosing exactly what designs to use for the applique on this Hybrid conversion, I set about using what I knew about her and her family to research different motifs that would be suitable for the Pixie hood.  After finding and loving lots and lots of different motifs I came up with two that I hope that she and her boys will love.

So this carrier is a Ocah double hybrid conversion with Custom Pixie hood, Duo straps, extra top stiching on the waist, and Leg padding.  The rocket applique was chosen for this Mamas boys as it is simple object but with some imagination, play rockets can be great fun,  For the reverse of the Pixie hood I  decided to sew something for the Mama and came across the idea of the Mama Elephant, strong and wise protecting her small offspring.

Scilla oh how I love thee so

I really do love the Didymos Scilla wrap but sadly the colours suit neither me or my girls.  This lovely length of wrap has been made into a Ocah Ring Sling with a gathered shoulder. It has been made using Large Turquoise Rings.

Jungle Butterflies

This Ocah Conversion has been made from a Girsol Jungle Wrap.  It is on its way to a Mama whose little girl just celebrated her birthday ! This conversion is a Padded waist conversion with Custom Duo straps, Adjustable Sleep hood and leg padding.  It has a lovely Butterfly applique made using the coloured striped fabric from the wrap.

Ring slings, Yey !

So the first four Ocah Ringslings are all sewn and ready to go. Of the 4 Shoulder styles that are available on the Ocah Ringsling, all the Mamas who I sewed for this week chose the Sleeping baby Products (SBP) Pleated shoulder, used with kind Permission of Jan Andrea Despite having the same style of shoulder the wraps and fabric used were all quite different. First to arrive for converting was a lovely soft Didymos Iris wrap with the instructions to chop it in half and make two slings one for the Mama sending the wrap and one for her friend.  The second Ocah Ringsling order was for a lovely Girasol no 36 that we purchased from the Lovely Lisa at Nautrally Happy Slings before chopping and converting it to a lovely soft Ocah Ringsling.  And Finally I was sent a much loved Maya Ringsling for a shoulder re-do.  For details on how to order your Ocah Ringsling click on the link for Ocah Ringslings Conversions .  As always if you need any information, help or advice on any Ocah creations please email us at [email protected]

Softly, Softly

Wow ! I love Lana Vanille as a Ocah conversion.  The colour is so creamy and soft.  This conversion is a Padded waist conversion with seat darts.  It has Custom Duo Straps, Adjustable Sleep hood, Leg padding, and extra top stitiching on the waist.

 

 

Costa Coffee with a difference !

The Mama who booked this conversion worked hard to get the details just right and it has really paid off.  It is Double Hybrid Clipee conversion with Custom Duo Straps, Adjustable sleep hood, leg padding and Arms out padding.  It has the very hard to find Coffee swirls fabric on the front of the carrier and the hood and Organic hemp silk on the reverse. The wrap used is a Hoppediz Cost Rica.

 

 

Pumpkin Perfection

I have had this wrap in my cupboard waiting to be sewn for weeks and weeks after the Mama who booked this slot had the wrap sent to me many weeks in advance.  As soon as it arrived I just fell in love with the vibrant organge colour and the lovely colourful stripes.  I have been waiting and waiting to get this wrap out of the cupboard to sew it and I wasnt disapointed when I finally got to work with it !

This Ocah conversion has been made from a BBSlen Wrap in the Pumpkin Colourway. It has a Padded waist with seat darts, Custom Adjustable Sleep Hood, Leg padding, and Duo straps. 

 

 

Costa Rica Cosy !

This Ocah conversion has been made using the Mams lovely snuggly Hoppediz Cost Rica wrap that is blankety soft. The conversion has a Padded waist with Seat darts, Custom Adjustable Sleep Hood, Leg padding, and Duo straps.
