If like me you love wearing your Little One in a carrier but just can't seem to get the hang of using a Wrap, well then the Ocah Wrap conversion is for you.

The Ocah Wrap Conversion is a unique design which is cleverly constructed using 2 layers of fabric from a long woven wrap to make a Mei Tai style baby carrier.  In addition to the Standard conversion which has Wrap style straps, there are four more designs that can be Custom made to meet your own specifications, these are the Padded strapped conversion, Hybrid conversion, Podaegi, and Clipee Conversion with Buckle waist.

I am having  problems with my laptop that makes it very difficult to type  :O( until this fault is sorted out I am going to upload some pictures of recent customer orders as there are some Mamas waiting to share pics of their new Ocah Carriers ! Slim Jim with the Good Folks

I really enjoyed working on this Ocah conversion.  I loved the fact that the Pink Slim Jim Diplaying with the pattern on the fabric to get the hood looking just right too.  The Fabric is "Good Folks" by Anna Maria Horner and it is a really great match for the wrap.

This Ocah conversion is a Hybrid conversion with Custom Pixie hood, Duo straps, leg padding, and extra top stitching on the waist. 

In order to get this Carrier packed and posted out to the Mama who is waiting on it, my pictures were taken in the fading light, so not the best but you will catch a glimpse of how it turned out ;o)

 

Felice Ring Sling

So I think I mentioned on an earlier post that I really like the Girasol Felice wrap that was commissioned by Slings I Love .  It is a really popular Rainbow wrap, and rightly so the combination of colours are stunning.  

This Ocah Ring Sling has been made using a gathered shoulder and large Silver Sling Rings.

Dragon Jim

This Ocah Ring Sling has been made using a Didymos Limited Edition Jade Jim wrap.  Jade Jim has an added linen content which makes it really sturdy, it also makes it quite a challenge to break in, or soften up and so it was given the name "The Dragon" . 

This Ocah Ring Sling has been made using the Hot Dog style shoulder which in this instance has been left at 7" wide rather than the usual 5-6" wide.  

 

 

Wooly Fish

This Didymos wrap conversion has been made using what has become affectionally known on Baby Wearing forums World Wide, as the "Wooly Fish", I love the quirky name which describes the wool content of the wrap and also the Fish design woven into the wrap.

This Wooly Fish has been made into a Ring Sling with a Gathered shoulder.

 

Ring Sling re-do's

I was asked about doing these slings by a Mama who loved the wraps that they were made from but wasnt loving the Style of the shoulder that had been used.  She had been advised that undoing a wrap that had been sewn into a Ring Sling was too complicated and very risky due to the potential of snagging a thread.  I on the other hand was quite confident that it could be done .  So happy for me to give it a go the Mama sent her Ring Slings to me and I sat and carefully unpicked the exisitng stitching on the shoulders with  no problems, both wraps were unscathed and after a quickwash were as good as new.  Now dont get me wrong, I am not suggesting that unpicking any stiching on a wrap is without its dangers, but if you have some expereince of working with wraps and are patient and very careful there really isnt any reason that your wraps should come out damaged.

The first Sling is a dyed Didymos Ellipsen wrap.  Shoulder re-do SBP style to Gathered.

The 2nd Sling is a made from a Didymos Lisa (thanks for pointing out it isnt a Jan -pah sorry ;O)  wrap. Shoulder re-do SBP style to Gathered.

Little Rocket Boy & the Protective Mother

The Mama who ordered this Ocah conversion sent me some lovely Gradation Fabric by Caryl Bryer Fallert for Benartex.  This Mama wanted the fabrics to be used with a Hoppediz Capetown wrap and had an idea that she wanted a Pixie style hood with some kind of applique on the hood to match the fabric of the carrier depending on which way around the carrier was being worn.  So after giving me a free hand in choosing exactly what designs to use for the applique on this Hybrid conversion, I set about using what I knew about her and her family to research different motifs that would be suitable for the Pixie hood.  After finding and loving lots and lots of different motifs I came up with two that I hope that she and her boys will love.

So this carrier is a Ocah double hybrid conversion with Custom Pixie hood, Duo straps, extra top stiching on the waist, and Leg padding.  The rocket applique was chosen for this Mamas boys as it is simple object but with some imagination, play rockets can be great fun,  For the reverse of the Pixie hood I  decided to sew something for the Mama and came across the idea of the Mama Elephant, strong and wise protecting her small offspring.
